Usual vs Recharge
Recharge takes a monthly fee plus a cut of every subscription order, so the bill grows with your business. Usual is a flat monthly price by active subscribers, never a percentage. Put in your numbers:
| App | How it's priced | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Recharge Starter | $149 + 1.5% + 20¢ per order | $1,149 |
| Recharge Scale | $499 + 1.25% + 20¢ per order | $1,374 |
| Skio Scale (monthly) | $599 + 1.25% + 20¢ per order | $1,474 |
| Usual | Flat, by active subscribers | $149 |
About $12,000 a year less than Recharge Starter, on 1,250 orders a month.
Prices in USD from each company's own pricing page, checked November 7, 2026: Recharge, Skio. Orders are worked out as revenue divided by average order. Card processing is charged by Shopify Payments on top, whichever app you use.
What changes when you move
- Your agent can run it. Connect Claude, Cursor or any MCP client and it can skip, pause, save a cancel or chase a failed payment, with every change previewed and the big ones waiting for your approval.
- Subscribers stay in Shopify. They manage their subscription from the Shopify customer account they already use.
- One fair offer, then cancel. Someone cancelling sees the offer that fits their reason. Cancelling stays one click.
Moving over takes an afternoon
- Connect Recharge with an API token, or upload Recharge's subscription export.
- Check what will come across: every subscription, its price, schedule and next charge date.
- Create them in Shopify. Nobody is charged and nobody gets an email until you switch billing over, so no one is charged twice.
- Switch billing over. If you connected Recharge, each subscription is cancelled there for you, without emailing the customer.
